Solo Bitcoin Miner (Lottery Miner): Can a €200 Machine Mine You €200,000?
Solo Bitcoin Miner (Lottery Miner): Can a €200 Machine Mine You €200,000?
Jackpot (1 block)
3.125 BTC
≈ €228,300
plus fees. 1 BTC = €73,063 (CoinGecko, 16 Oct 2026)
Your ticket
€125-490
the price of a small solo miner
The key point: this is a lottery. The chance is small. But if you hit, you take the whole block: 3.125 BTC, about €228,300 at today's price (16 Oct 2026), plus fees. A ticket costs €125-490, the price of a small solo miner.
Lottery Solo Mining with Mini Miners: NerdMiner, Bitaxe Gamma, Lucky Miner, Avalon Nano
A €200 machine for mining BTC (Bitcoin) can mine you 3.125 BTC? Yes. How is that possible?
And a €200 machine for mining LTC + DOGE (Litecoin + Dogecoin) can mine you around €1,000 (in LTC + DOGE coins)? (reported figure)

Solo Mining - What Is It? (vs Pool Mining)
Bitcoin mining happens in blocks.
1 block = 3.125 BTC (plus fees).
Worldwide, 1 block is mined every 10 minutes.
(So today about 450 bitcoins are mined worldwide per day.)
How do you mine that block? There are 2 ways.
#1 Through a mining pool
You join a pool and every day you receive your share of the mined coins.
A pool has thousands of miners, so it mines dozens of BTC blocks every day. That is why you get a regular reward every day, which is basically the same from day to day.
The pool mines a whole block and you get your share of it, depending on how much hashrate (TH/s) you contributed.
#2 Solo mining
If you don't want to mine through a pool, you mine alone (solo).
That means that for, say, 3 years you don't earn a single cent.
But after 3 years you might catch a BTC block, and you alone mine 3.125 BTC.
Maybe you manage it after a few weeks of mining, maybe never. That's what solo mining is about. Big reward, big risk.
Lottery Miner: And This Is Exactly What Just Happened (Again)
A solo miner was mining with an Avalon Nano 3 (4 TH/s), a miner that cost €270 + VAT.
And he mined a BTC block: 3.125 BTC.
He turned €270 into about €182,600 (reported case, at the BTC price of that time).
By reported statistics, roughly every 19 days some solo miner somewhere in the world mines a BTC block.
The rest of the time, BTC blocks are mined by mining pools.
(There are very few solo miners in the world.)
And the probability is of course low. Still, it happens: on average every 19 days.
What Is the Probability?
The odds are small. A ticket costs €125-490. If you hit, you take the whole block: 3.125 BTC, about €228,300 at today's price (16 Oct 2026), plus fees. It is a lottery, not an investment.
The probability is of course low. But it happens. That is why it is called lucky mining, or lottery mining. Luck plays the main role.
Lottery Mining
That is why this way of mining is called "lottery mining": the probability of mining a block is similar to a lottery.
But when it works out, you turn about €300 into about €180,000 (reported figure, at the BTC price of that time).
How low is the probability?
Expected time to find one block = (network hashrate / your hashrate) x 10 minutes.
Network hashrate: 1,032.7 EH/s = 1,032,700,000 TH/s (mempool.space, 16 Oct 2026).
With JavaScript enabled you can also try your own hashrate here. The table below shows four popular machines.
Ticket price: Bitaxe Gamma 601, €180.
The odds are small, but they are real. It is a lottery: a small ticket, a big prize.
| Machine | Hash-rate | Expected time per block | Chance in 1 year |
|---|---|---|---|
| NerdMiner Nerdaxe Ultra | 0.5 TH/s | about 39,300 years | about 0.0025% |
| Bitaxe Gamma 601 | 1.2 TH/s | about 16,400 years | about 0.0061% |
| Avalon Nano 3 | 4 TH/s | about 4,900 years | about 0.020% |
| NerdMiner NerdOCTAxe Rev 3.1 | 12 TH/s | about 1,640 years | about 0.061% (about 1 in 1,640) |
These are averages: a block can come on day one or never.
How we calculate
Example for 12 TH/s: 1,032,700,000 / 12 = 86,058,333 block intervals x 10 min = about 1,640 years.
Chance in 1 year = 1 - (1 - 1/N)^52,560 blocks, where N = network hashrate / your hashrate.
Sources: network hashrate 1,032.7 EH/s (mempool.space, 16 Oct 2026); 1 BTC = €73,063 (CoinGecko, 16 Oct 2026). These are estimates, not a promise.
You can run solo mining (lottery mining):
- on regular big miners: Antminer S19, S21, S23... (prices from €1,000 up),
- and on the smallest mini miners, which are built (also) for the home.
Tiny, Quiet, Efficient Miners for the Home
Mini lottery miners: power draw like a light bulb.
Tiny, quiet, built for the home too.
Parameters of these small lottery miners:
- Prices: from €125 (at Miner-House, 16 Oct 2026).
- Power draw: from 40 W (like a household light bulb).
- Low power draw = practically no noise.
- Size: from 10 cm.
- Tiny, quiet, compact.
And your €200 might turn into €228,300 (3.125 BTC at today's price, 16 Oct 2026). The odds are in the table above.
Bitcoin (SHA-256)

Can You Mine with a (Small) SOLO Miner Through a POOL?
Yes. Practically every machine can be switched:
- to SOLO mining (e.g. 3 years you mine nothing, and then you mine 3 BTC),
- or to POOL mining (every day you mine a small amount).
Yes, even a small €200 SOLO machine can mine in a POOL (and SOLO).
A Big Miner = Ideal for POOL Mining
Likewise, any big miner for, say, €5,000 can mine SOLO (and, as standard, in a POOL).
But if you buy a €5,000 machine, you will pay, say, another €250 a month for electricity (reported example), and maybe after 2 years you manage to mine a block, but maybe not.
So, in our view: big machines = mine the standard way, through a mining pool (not SOLO).
A Small Miner = Ideal for SOLO Mining
SOLO mining makes sense (in our view) when you buy one of the smallest machines, so that:
- the purchase doesn't hurt (that's why, for SOLO, buy the small €125-490 miners),
- you basically don't even feel your household electricity use going up, so for SOLO look at the small, cheap miners (roughly 30-100-200 W).
But when it works out, you mine 3 BTC.
Brands of Solo Miners
Several brands of these small SOLO miners are available (and you can also switch them to a pool and get a small yield every day):
- NerdMiner: Nerdaxe Ultra, NerdQaxe+, NerdOCTAxe
- Bitaxe: Bitaxe Gamma 601, Supra Hex 701
- Lucky Miner: LG07, LG07 Pro
- Avalon Nano: Avalon Nano 3
BTC but Also LTC (Litecoin) Solo Miners
The best known are Bitcoin solo miners.
Besides them there are also Litecoin + DOGE solo miners, where the chances of a "reward" are actually higher.
BTC Solo Miners
Every day you mine 0 BTC.
If it works out, you mine 3.125 BTC.
So a €200 machine can mine you about €228,300 (value of that many coins at today's price, 16 Oct 2026).
Litecoin + DOGE Solo Miners
Every day you mine 0 LTC + 0 DOGE.
If it works out, you mine:
- 6.25 LTC,
- and at the same time 10,000 DOGE,
because LTC and DOGE are mined together (merged mining).
So a €200 machine can mine you about €1,000 (value of that many coins at the time of the report; reported figure).
Scrypt hashrate is in MH/s, so these bars are a separate scale: hashrate to 120 MH/s, price to €280.
Also, the probability of mining this LTC + DOGE reward is about 54x higher than with BTC solo mining (reported figure).
Solo Mining FAQ
Is a solo bitcoin miner a good investment?
No. It is a lottery ticket with a small running cost. For a 12 TH/s machine at today's network hashrate, the expected time to one block is about 1,640 years; for a 0.5 TH/s machine, about 39,300 years.
What are the real odds for a small miner?
Expected time per block = (network hashrate / your hashrate) x 10 minutes. At 1,032.7 EH/s (mempool.space, 16 Oct 2026), a 1.2 TH/s machine needs about 16,400 years on average, a 4 TH/s machine about 4,900 years and a 12 TH/s machine about 1,640 years. The result is an average, not a schedule.
What does a solo block pay?
3.125 BTC plus the fees of that block, about €228,300 at today's price (16 Oct 2026). For Litecoin + Dogecoin solo mining, 6.25 LTC plus 10,000 DOGE.
Can I use a lottery miner in a pool instead?
Yes. Almost every small miner can be set to a pool, where you receive small payouts in proportion to your hashrate.
Which solo miner should I start with?
If you want the lowest entry price, the Nerdaxe Ultra (€125). For a Bitaxe-type device, the Bitaxe Gamma 601 (€180). Lucky Miner LG07 starts at €161 and Avalon Nano 3 is €330.
